First Half
The first half followed a classic script for matches between the big teams from New Zealand and Australia against teams from the smaller islands. The Vanuatu team, coached by the excellent German Lars Hopp, positioned the team in a very low block, relying on counter-attacks from Vanuatu's national team player, Alex Saniel, who possesses speed and acceleration and has already scored goals in this edition of the OFC Pro League. Towards the end of the first half, Reid Drake almost opened the scoring for the New Zealand team.
Second Half
The second half was a bit more lively, with both teams seeking a goal with more impetus. Alex Saniel continued to trouble the league leaders with shots from outside the box, while Reid Drake had a dangerous chance early in the second half and almost opened the scoring. However, the score remained 0-0 at the Honiara Stadium in the Solomon Islands, and Vanuatu United missed a golden opportunity for victory against the league leaders.

The Vanuatu team is currently in fifth place, 2 points behind the fourth-placed team that qualifies for the next phase, and will play again against South Island United in Circuit 5 in April, while tournament leaders Auckland face South Melbourne.
