First Half
The first half in Papua New Guinea was expected to be somewhat balanced, with Tahiti United playing in a low block and waiting to exploit counter-attacks. However, just three minutes into the game, young striker Kian Donkers scored the first goal, dismantling coach Samuel Garcia's system. The team didn't concede any more goals until the half-time whistle, at least.
Second Half
The second half started just like the first, with the young defender from Auckland FC's reserve team, Aston Burns, scoring the second goal in the 49th minute. Shortly after, Bayliss scored the third goal, and in the 62nd minute, the young striker Ferguson sealed the victory and secured the sole lead in the tournament.
Standings and next round
The New Zealanders are currently in the lead and will return to the field on February 7th against Solomon Kings, while Tahiti United are outside the playoff zone and will face Bula FC on February 8th.
