The team coached by Brazilian Airton Andrioli had a chance to enter the playoff zone with a victory, but Giancarlo Italiano's team had a slight advantage playing at home.


With a devastating start to the game, Adelaide opened the scoring in the 14th minute, shortly after which Giancarlo Italiano's team received 3 consecutive yellow cards, and the damage was completed with a goal in the 44th minute by Duzel.


Wellington's team made a change at halftime and returned to the game with renewed hunger, scoring in the 56th minute through Hughes, and not long after, in the 65th minute, Piper equalized for the All Whites.


The team of Spaniard Juan Muñiz is just 1 point away from the playoff zone and continues to dream, while Wellington Phoenix struggles to climb out of the bottom of the table and has little hope, 3 points behind the playoffs.
